“Spring” into cleaning!

March 10, 2026

Most of us have “sprung forward” into Daylight Saving Time. Now it’s time to “spring” into action and start cleaning! Spring is the perfect time to refresh your home, but sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start. Check out the tips below for inspiration.

Spring Cleaning Made Easy

  • Start small and set a timer – Tackle one drawer, shelf, or corner at a time. Even 15–20 minutes can make a noticeable difference.
  • Reduce duplicates – Keep your favorite or most functional version of an item and let go of extras, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and linen closets.
  • Create a “keep zone” – Designate space for items you truly use, and when the zone is full, something else has to go. This helps prevent re-cluttering.
  • Use the “one-year rule” – If you haven’t used something in the past year (and it’s not seasonal or sentimental), consider letting it go.
  • Declutter by category, not by room – Gather similar items (like cords, tools, or cleaning supplies) from around the house and only keep what you need.
  • Digitize paperwork – Scan important documents and recycle old bills, manuals, and paperwork that you no longer need physical copies of.
  • Label and contain – Organize remaining things in clear, labeled bins to keep them easily accessible.
