Connections and Peer-to-Peer Learning

Eco Partners’ writing and production assistant, James Washington (pictured at left below), attended SWANA’s SOAR 2024: Technical Solutions for Resource Management conference in Phoenix earlier this month. James shares his reflections on the benefits of attending the conference and of peer-to-peer learning.

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend my first SOAR conference hosted by SWANA, and it proved to be a valuable experience. With its focus on Technical Solutions for Resource Management, the conference provided a platform for professionals to delve into the latest developments and insights within our industry.

One notable aspect of SOAR was its warm environment. Organizers and attendees fostered a sense of community, creating opportunities to network and exchange relevant information related to the industry. The conference offered a diverse range of sessions and workshops, covering topics such as food recovery in California to a panel discussion on lithium batteries. The sessions at SOAR catered to professionals at various stages of their careers, offering opportunities to learn and connect with everyone who attended.

Attending conferences like SOAR is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about investing in professional development. Immersing myself in that environment with peers and experts allowed me to gain valuable insights and perspectives that can enhance the rest of my career. I look forward to future opportunities to continue learning!
