How will you celebrate? Begin by taking the pledge to recycle more. Those who pledge are encouraged to learn, act, and share: learn which materials are collected in their community, act on a plan to reduce personal waste, and share by encourageing at least one other person to take the same pledge.
“America Recycles Day is a call-to-action to motivate individuals to actively pursue a #BeRecycled lifestyle 365 days a year,” said Brenda Pulley, senior vice president, recycling, Keep America Beautiful. “America Recycles Day helps to shine a light on our ongoing efforts to educate and inspire people to reduce, reuse and recycle, and when they buy, to buy products made from sustainable and recycled materials.”
According to a news release from Keep American Beautiful, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of America Recycles Day, event sponsor Keep America Beautiful and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc., are hosting the 2017 “State of Recycling” Forum in Washington D.C., presented in partnership with Keurig Green Mountain. The topic for this year’s “State of Recycling” Forum is: Plastics: Improving Quality. Driving Demand.”
