Young Environmentalist recognized by KAB

Eleven-year-old environmental superstar Asvini Thivakaran from Round Rock, Texas is at it again. The 2018 winner of the Keep Texas Beautiful Ruthe Jackson Youth Leadership Award for her school and community battery recycling program has now created a YouTube video urging Texans to dispose of masks, wipes, and gloves properly.

The video “COVID-19 Waste: Trash-Free Water” is being promoted on the national Keep America Beautiful (KAB) website. This video and her other educational environmental videos can also be found on Asvini’s YouTube channel, “E-Talk,” (Environmental Talk) and on her website, Asvini’s Planet.

Per her website, “Her goal is to educate everyone about why we need to save the planet and how we can do it.” Asvini encourages others through her videos which share examples of activities on environmental topics, from ocean plastic pollution to global warming. The videos are also shared at school through her school TV news and by several environmental organizations via their social media accounts. Asvini was the guest speaker at Keep Texas Beautiful’s 52nd Annual Conference in 2019 and also presented her campaigns to save the planet and reduce pollution.

Congratulations to this inspiring young person. Asvini is an example for all ages!
