Our intern is an award-winner!

Eco Partners is happy to have Leeann Sausser back with us as our intern for the third summer. We are also pleased to share that she recently won the Peggy Seigel Writing Competition with her paper, “Friend of the Slave, Enemy of Emancipation: Indiana Quakers and the Abolition Question, 1826-1857.”

The competition was hosted by Manchester University and awarded her $1000 for her first-place paper. Leeann said she was glad the hours she spent researching and reading Quaker meeting minutes and the diaries of Levi Coffin paid off!

We are glad for the hours she spends with us! Leeann will be writing articles for our environmental education newsletters, One Person’s Trash and Trash Talk!,  and helping to represent Eco Partners at conferences this summer. She will be a senior at DePauw University this fall, majoring in English Writing with a minor in History.

Welcome back, Leeann, and congratulations!
