Seahawks Win at Recycling!

While they may not have won the Super Bowl this year, the Seattle Seahawks are still champions in our book thanks to the green programs in place at their stadium. CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks and Sounders play, has been on top of its recycling game for years.

Here are some cool facts:

• All plates, eating utensils, and napkins can be composted at the stadium.
• The making of the turf on the field used more than 35,000 recycled, ground-up tennis shoes and 30,000 recycled, ground-up tires.
• In 2009, CenturyLink Field won the “Event Recycling Award” from the Washington State Recycling Association.
• Only 6% of the waste from the facility goes to a landfill — everything else is recycled, reused, or composted!

The Seahawks and their fans definitely win when it comes to recycling! Special thanks to Thurston Solid Waste for sharing this great information.
